The Love Script (Love in the Spotlight #1) by Toni Shiloh

My rating: 3/5

The Love Script by Toni Shiloh is a lighthearted romance, with a modern storyline and enjoyable Christian faith content. Written with a bit of humor and a straightforward plot, this is a decent novel with a respectable message of Christ centered love interests.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 (ESV): Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Lamont Booker is a popular movie star whose seemingly perfect life takes an abrupt turn when he encounters a situation that could threaten the course of his career and tarnish the admirable reputation he has acquired since publicly proclaiming his Christian faith to the world, and privately living out his proclamation. Neveah Richards is an aspiring Hollywood hair stylist, who has been struggling to land her dream job as a lead stylist on a movie or television set. Working as Lamont’s mother’s personal hair stylist has been a delight, but an unforeseen situation changes the course of her life. When this event is exposed to the world by prying paparazzi, they both decide to handle the situation in a deceptive manner. When a surprising romance develops between the two of them, they are left with the convictions of their decisions and with accepting the newfound lives they have adopted.

This is the first novel that I have read by Toni Shiloh, and unfortunately it was a bit lackluster. Although I enjoyed the abundance of Christian faith content in the story, I was left longing for a bit more from the plot. The ending seemed rushed, and the story seemed doubtful at times. However, the characters were enjoyable, and the story was fast paced and easy to follow. If you prefer fast paced, faith-based romance novels, you may enjoy this book.
