Electrifying and exhilarating, The King’s Scrolls is the triumphant second installment in the six-part Christian fantasy ‘Ilyon Chronicles’ series by Jaye L. Knight. This thrilling tale is a heart-pounding, page-turner full of faith, courage, and hope that is eloquently portrayed through memorable characters and a poignant plot. The story effortlessly grips the reader into a pleasant oblivion of masterful storytelling.
The King’s Scrolls catapults readers back into the world of Ilyon, where an ensuing battle has erupted for believers of Elôm, to survive in a world dominated by idol worship of false gods. The emperor has issued strict orders that anyone who refuses to worship the false gods are to be brutally executed. The injustice has spread like a disease throughout the land and has made it increasingly difficult to maintain survival. Within the storyline familiar bonds are strained, faith in God is tested, and the will to survive is tried, as a group of believers of Elôm go on a quest to rescue the last surviving copy of the scrolls, which is the written word of God. Numerous original characters return to the story, as well as a few new memorable characters, that further enrich the plot. Through impressive biblical allegory, the novel highlights the one and only true and living God.
Isaiah 40:28-29 (ESV) Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
The depiction of uncompromising faith within the narrative is truly inspiring. The characters’ portrayal of their sheer will to survive in the face of injustice, with unyielding faith, is amazing. It challenges the reader to ponder, confronted with persecution will you stand firm in Christ, or waiver to the claws of fear? This fast-past, brilliantly written story celebrates the love of God through faith. If you are interested in reading a non-magical Christian fantasy book, I highly recommend this series.
