Beneath the Cleansing Flood by Embassie Susberry is the marvelous conclusion to the four-book ‘The Lost Boys’ series. Splendidly written, the novel intricately threads the components of the plot depicted in the first three books, resulting in a stellar story about redemption, salvation, and love. Heartfelt and encouraging, Embassie Susberry created an incredibly noteworthy story full of inspiring events, Christ centered wisdom, and remarkable characters.
“If you walk with God long enough, you will find that not every prayer is answered the way you want it. You have to be able to accept a ‘no’ or a ‘not yet’ and keep on loving and trusting Him just because He’s God. You’re not God. He is” (Otis, Beneath the Cleansing Flood).
Like the preceding books in the series, Beneath the Cleansing Flood centers on the life of an individual within the group of friends, consisting of 5 young men in total. The protagonist of this story is Monroe Price, an audacious and impersonal individual who escaped an upbringing of violence and crime. His life takes a life changing shift when he endures a near death experience in the military, which allows him to believe and accept the salvation of Jesus Christ. In doing so, his perspectives in life transform from selfishness and vengeance to accepting the call of God on his life. A sudden reunion with a childhood friend, brings a refreshing outlook on his life, and redeems his views on love.

Azalea Moray is a kindhearted and loyal woman, whose love for Jesus shapes every area of her life. An unforeseen inheritance of a large amount of money invokes several enemies in her life. She is faced with a significant decision that may help protect her and her inherited money and open her heart to unconditional love.
A riveting page-turner, that is exceptionally written, and adequately paced, Beneath the Cleansing Flood is a remarkable story that depicts how Jesus can take an unlikely individual and completely change their life by the redemptive power of the love of Jesus. The story includes poignant Christ centered wisdom that is inspiring and uplifting. Some of the plot is centered around the Black church. The author aptly captures the intricate culture of the Black church which made the story even more excellent. Significantly character driven, the novel also includes several meaningful characters that greatly impact the story. I enjoyed this novel, and absolutely loved every book in this series. I am eagerly thrilled to read other works by Embassie Susberry. If you enjoy great writing, intriguing characters, enthralling plots, and Christian faith based inspiring messages, I highly encourage you to read this book as well as the entire series. I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.
